This could be one of the most star-studded collaborations of 2016. Be prepared, because the new Suicide Squad soundtrack is going to be so tight, including artists like Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, and X Ambassadors.
The album will essentially be the Fight-Club anthem, if nothing else. With its hardcore, bad-ass, and cynical nature, the music prepares you for what will be an action-packed superhero film Suicide Squad, which will be coming out this August on the 5th. With that set, Atlantic and Warner Bros. have assembled an equally celebrity-filled line-up for the soundtrack. Appearances will come from the likes of Kevin Gates, Kehlani, Action Bronson, Skrillex, Rick Ross, Grimes, Eminem, and more. It will al be completely original songs recorded for the upcoming film, with numerous licensed tracks.
Recently, one particular track, which will serve as the leading single, has been released, “Sucker For Pain.” A visual for this track will come out this Thursday night, so don’t fret, but for now you can jam out to the audio clip above to keep you satiated until then.
The track goes:
“[Chorus Dan Reynolds & Sam Harris]: I torture you
Take my hand through the flames
I torture you
I’m a slave to your games
I’m just a sucker for pain
I wanna chain you up
I wanna tie you down
[Verse Lil Wayne]: I’m just a sucker for painI’m devoted to destruction
A full dosage of detrimental dysfunction…”
The irony is that the song embodies such a chill tune. It is slow-paced, but with the different voices paving the way and the maniacal lyrics, it’s truly a dynamic piece. “Sucker for Pain” really is simple in its structure, but something in it’s simplicity is so catchy and so contagious, that the villainous vibe keeps circulating in your head.
The chorus always draws me back to the track- haunting, ghostly, R&B-esque, rock-y, jazzy, and with a hip-hop twist. The meaning behind the song is extremely sadistic, and like I said, fight-club worthy.
The upcoming feature presentation Suicide Squad, will star Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Will Smith and Cara Delevingne.
Ty Dolla $ign, Logic, X Ambassadors, and Imagine Dragons absolutely slay this PG-13 rated song. Kids, cover your ears.
“Sucker for Pain” is just one of the many fantastic set tracks for the Suicide Squad soundtrack. The official video for Twenty One Pilots’ “Heathens,” for the film as well, was released earlier this week and it’s sick. Watch below.
