New Gorillaz Album Officially Set To Come Out In 2017

The virtual musical sensation, Gorillaz, is back in “Feel Good, Inc.” business and is officially ready to put out some new material for our listening enjoyment!

We heard earlier sometime in the year that the band was preparing itself for a new project release. Damon Albarn recently shared some exciting news to fans during a BBC Radio 6 interview. Just last month, we were able to report Instagram posts made by the co-creator Jamie Hewlett, making an official notice that Albarn and him were hard at work and that an album was expected to drop in 2017. There were various videos of them in the studio, and of course a few photos of their digitalized friends also in the studio to create some pretty sick beats and tunes for us. Now, the Essex, England artists are out and about, and ready to bring back the eccentric, electric, hip hop, indie-rock ballads of their music. During the interview, Albarn discussed what their plans are:

“Later in the year we’ll be starting to get the whole Gorillaz thing together. I’m loving it and it’s getting there. It should be ready fairly soon.”

Well, isn’t this exciting? We haven’t heard from the trip-hop band since 2011, so a new set of tracks is way past overdue. We get to see our friends 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs again and get to hear what new and creative tunes they’ve got in store for us. Will it be like the Demon Days or will it be like the D-Sides or maybe even Plastic Beach? Maybe a combination of them all? We’ve missed the robotic, techno, nostalgic, stoic sounds of this suave group, so really whatever concoction they’ve got brewing, we can’t wait for 2017. Let us know how excited you are!

You can now watch the BBC interview above.
