RZA & Interpol Join Forces For Track and Video “Giant”

Banks & Steelz.

Ready for another epic rock & rap collab? Sure, you are! Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and Interpol’s Paul Banks have joined forces to bring you a powerhouse team they like to call Banks & Steelz. Just as Jay Z and Linkin Park did their thing, these two are preparing us for their debut LP Anything But Words, which is set to drop this August on the 28th. What should we expect from these two artists of very disparate genres and very different groups? Well, nothing short of intense. It has been mentioned before, it is very hard to put rock and rap together and make it sound good, but there have been successful acts in the past such as Linkin Park & Jay Z and X Ambassadors & A$AP Ferg. While we’ve been waiting, the duo has been sprinkling singles here and there and everywhere. So far, they have dropped tracks like, “Speedway Sonora,” “Love + War,” and now “Giant.”

Today, they’ve shared their Wendy Morgan-directed music video to “Giant,” which you can watch above! In this visual, we watch RZA spit hard lyrics with as much as energy as a nutritionist can bring to the table. Then comes in the smooth vocals of Paul Banks with his balladic rock guitar riffs. The two scavenge through hidden, decaying alleyways and abandoned buildings and warehouses, while figures contort and dance in various rooms of the structures. We then come to a beautiful site of a mirrored, symmetrical skyline of NYC. It’s a fitting production for the track.

In an interview with Pitchfork‘s Senior Staff Writer, Marc Hogan, the pair was asked “was there a moment when you guys realized it was a full album, not just a single or an EP?”

Banks replied, “I think when we came up with the 34th song. [pause] Yeah, we got a lot of music.”

The two even assured us in that conversation that there is a possibility of another Banks & Steelz album in the future, with RZA saying, “it’s supply and demand. You guys demand it, we will supply it.”

This 12-track LP is not set alone by the emphatic voices of these two men, but will also be accompanied by the indie artist Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine as well as the rest of the Wu Tang Clan crew: Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Masta Killa, and the former rapper Kool Keith.

You can now pre-order the album on iTunes, Google, and Amazon! So don’t miss out!
