Die Antwoord Is Not Happy, Calling Out ‘Suicide Squad’ For Stealing Their Style

SMH

Suicide Squad has been getting a lot of heat recently from the crowd who seemed to not have enjoyed the movie as much as the hype had displayed. Nonetheless, besides that fact, it also managed to get some bad rep from South Africa’s hottest music duo Die Antwoord, who recently accused director David Ayer for cramping their style. They point out moments and characters when their entire ensemble, brand and look were completely copied! From the tattoos, to the hair, to the facial expressions, and accessories, DC Comics’ villains all resembled the terrifying, gothic look of the exotic, alternative rap band. Yolandi Visser, 1/2 of the group called out the director in a lash of fury via Instagram last night:

“yes David Ayer u jockin our style. callin ninja up before your movie came our pretendin 2b down, so it looks OK when u bite our black & white graf style & our opening sequence to umshiniwam & an all da lil tiny details u nibbeld dat other people wont see but we notice. Cara & Jared told us how much u were talkin abt us on set but u never asked our permision to rip us off. An when ninja texted u sayin wassup wif dat u said nothin like a scared lil b*ch.”

Needless to say, they’re pis**d.  To accompany her rant, the black-eyed vixen posted (along with her long caption) a video of comparisons between Die Antwoord and the movie roles with Craig Mack’s “Jockin’ My Style” playing in the background. Subtle. You can see that very post in the visual below and while you’re watching try to see if you agree, because when I first watched it, it actually stunned me how accurate they were, many of the looks are similar if not identical. If you look closely, the craziest and most interesting fact found in that large, grammatically incorrect and misspelt paragraph, however, was that even actors Cara Delevingne and Jared Leto admitted that Ayer was trying to portray an Antwoord-look when approaching the characters’ overall fashion personas for the film.

What do you think? “But we all tink u wack”
