At least making some profit
The highly-anticipated Warner Bros production, Suicide Squad, released on August 5th, and unfortunately, it was not what people had expected. To put it simply, the film was considered to be much like a darker, more comedic Baz Lurhman film, with too much going on, but it also had no fulfilling plot. Nonetheless, it wasn’t the end for the overall concept because its accompanying self-titled soundtrack hit it off very well!
According to Billboard today, Suicide Squad (the Soundtrack) was reported to rank at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts! It was basically able to sell the equivalent of 182,000 units in just its first week of release (which may you remind you was the same day the movie dropped). What was discovered, thanks to Billboard’s efficient data analytics is that this would be the highest first-week sales of any movie soundtrack in a while. To be more specific, since the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack (210,000).
DJ Khaled may be a little sore now since being bumped off his regal throne and being replaced by the cinematic movie score compilation. However, when you come to think of it, this soundtrack holds some pretty epic tracks and a TON of star-studded features. There are appearances from artists like Rick Ross, Skrillex, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Twenty One Pilots, Grimes, Kehlani, Skylar Grey, Logic, Action Bronson, Mark Ronson, The Black Keys, Grace, G-Eazy, X Ambassadors, Imagine Dragons, Eminem, Kevin Gates, Panic! at the Disco, and more! The project covers all genres, and has some pretty wickedly epic tracks, and even the most serene of songs are intense. DJ Khaled is now hanging from a limb at No. 7, but you know what, he had his time, now let’s pass it on to these various artists who all came together to create a solid piece of work that probably saved the cast and crew of the film that didn’t do as hot. At least 1/2 of the production did well!
If you’re disappointed by the film, at least check out the entirety of the multi-casted project HERE and have your super-villain fix satisfied now:
