Don Diablo Shows Heart in New Single & Music Video “Save a Little Love”

Save just a little love for him

Because Don Diablo is about to make your summer just a little sweeter with his new release “Save a Little Love”. The DJ comes out with this happy-go-lucky tune of love that takes you through a whirling EDM track. As you mess around with the rhythm you honestly can’t help but start dancing and that was exactly his intention. He genuinely gets you up and going, and though the lyrics may be cheesy and simple, the humble message it gets across is one that is worth listening to and keeping in mind.

The goofy, light-hearted nature of the music video makes it impossible not to smile. The dancing is wonderful, from the lead dancer to the group in synchronized happiness. We tend to forget in our busy lives how things can  take a turn from the expected and we just have to learn how to roll with the punches. So here’s your reminder. As an ambitious extraordinaire, he even released this single via his own HEXAGON label.

With already 2.5 million followers on Facebook, 853 million views on YouTube, and 3.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify overall, Don Diablo is pacing his own path to success through the art of dance music.

Don Diablo recently had the honor of appearing on the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and has also remixed The Chainsmokers & Coldplay, Rihanna, DJ Snake, and Justin Bieber. In addition, he will be on the road for a summer full of festival adventures appearing at shows such as Tomorrowland, Lollapolooza, Ultra, South West Four, V Festival and Creamfields.

What should we expect from this artist? Tons and tons of potential to be the next big dance hits tycoon! “I premiered Save A Little Love on the main stage at ULTRA Miami and have been getting questions about it ever since. The song features vocals from the talented Swedish singer / songwriter duo Smith & Thell. I wanted to make a feel-good song with a positive message that will put smiles on people’s faces, while incorporating my trademark production style.” says the rhythm curator.

He continues to comment under the video, “this music video was shot in Washington, where I got together with the “Cutting Shapes” crew for a special reunion. Much love to Gabby J David, Ricki Huff and the rest of the crew. Keep dancin’ and keep smilin’, it makes the world a better place!” He will be super busy this summer, but don’t miss your chance to catch him when he reaches your city! He is a great addition to the EDM scene and we can all save a little love for him in our dancing hearts!

[Exclusive] Interview with Coast Modern on New Album & Fav LA Tacos

Take a dive into their chill, tropical sound waves

This dynamic duo, made up of Luke Atlas and Coleman Trapp, is up to something and that something is their forthcoming debut album which is to become the perfect set list of jams for you this summer! The expected release is to be July 28th, so be sure to mark your calendars for when this special day arrives.

A new track we have gotten a taste of is their recent release “Dive”, which is a single off the upcoming compilation. Billboard said “Here’s another certified jam to add to your summertime playlist, courtesy of Coast Modern.”

The best way to describe their music? I’d say it’s the sound of Weezer’s Island in the Sun meets the Beach Boys in a wistful indie dreamland of sorrow and bliss. When you hear their music, you are transported to a sort of middle world of dimensions where  you really have no cares at all and just let the music take you away in this endless stream of consciousness. I decided to take a dive with the guys and learn more about the makings of their sound and little more about them in general.

The guys are always known to be fun and cheeky, and so I thought it would be fun to ask a few unconventional interview questions to set the right scene.

#tbt 💪pumped to do this stuff again next month. 👀 u soon‼️

A post shared by Coast Modern (@coastmodernmusic) on

When I asked 1/2 of Coast Modern about their sound and the genre he perceived themselves as, he replied “It’s funny that before we signed our publishing deal our record deal, I didn’t even know that alternative was a genre, and that kind of surprised me when that was a thing.” He continued to explain the concept behind their recently released track: “when we wrote ‘Dive’ we were kind of trying to capture that nostalgic, youthful excitement. Maybe it’s like fresh love, maybe it’s like exploration. It’s also just very tropical vibes.”

Coast Modern quite literally tries to aim for their namesake, “modern”, in the sense that they are pushing the boundaries of their alternative pop peers and hoping to create a genre where they lead the way all the way through. In other words, their genre could be considered a misfit of alternative rock bands as their pop/electronic influences seep into their old school, beach house aura.

18892988_1887711078151517_619351911904625705_n.jpg

Similarly, these boys are masterminds behind their brand, utilizing bold, colorful graphics behind their cover art and marketing to match their eclectic sound. Trapp, who writes and produces everything with Atlas as well as sings when they perform live, explained that “early on we knew we wanted something that was bold and had lots of colors. We dug through some artists that were great at that, and luckily the first choice we had, Dai Ruiz, knew exactly what we wanted. She was awesome and we’re glad that we’re still working with her up to this point.”

He stammered for a bit when I asked who were his favorite artists, and justifiably so. “Like I have a thousand answers,” he laughed in exasperation. “Like when I was younger discovering music, it was of course like Led Zeppelin, but I’ve been so inspired in the past couple years by so many artists. Errrr, I don’t even know where to begin. I’d say Dessert, they put out a single last year called “Eyes Wide Shut”, and it comes to my mind because of how fun it was. The most ill party vibes, and I call it “ill” because they played a 90’s hip-hop sample with this very underwhelming melody over it, and the juxtaposition is just very inspiring. There’s also a band called Mini Mansions that I liked and then this collaboration project called Soft Hair that did a song “Lying has to Stop”, and it’s like butter to your ears”, he says excitedly. You could just hear the passion in his voice as he named these artists.

Trapp went on to tell me that his soul song would have to be the classic “Sitting On the Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding. Why you ask? “Because I got this feeling when I was younger that there is something much deeper than what is sitting on the surface of the lyrics, and  it was the first time I ever got that feeling, so it really stuck with me. Like instead of talking about sitting  on a dock talking about watching time pass, when I heard it, I got this really deep sensation that it’s actually about like going through different lives and eternity, so it gave me this weird out of body experience and it stuck with me.”

I had to ask where their dream place would be if they could perform anywhere, to which he replied jokingly (but pretty seriously) “In space”. LOL. Then he followed that response by saying that he would also like to perform somewhere in Asia, like Japan.

The boys’ history goes way back, but for Colemann specifically, it started back when he was 18 producing for all kinds of rappers and singers, then inspiring to pursue his own music career. The LA scene was a great stepping stone for the boys to get their music out there.

13680444_1740546162868010_7432286684182348188_o.jpg

I asked him what would be his favorite taco place in LA if he had to give us advice. “I really like janky places, not trendy ones, so I would have to say King Taco, Taco King, …” If you couldn’t tell, he likes his regal tacos. “Really the jankier the place, the better it is haha!”

One thing Trapp can’t leave without is his spare guitar, which sits in the back of his truck for whenever inspiration strikes. The guys plan on having more releases and projects coming out down the line in the next 5-10 years, so fans will be on the look out.

After releasing their hit single, “Hollow Life”, the LA-based act has released numerous tracks to keep their musical mojo momentum going. And it only proved to be true as their were garnering air time from notable organizations like SiriusXM Alt Nation and KCRW. They received set time to perform  live at SXSW, and they were able to open on tour with BORNS, The Wombats, and Temper Trap! Quite the resume they have here. Blogs and fashion press would find them and only help build their name and publicity, and they continue to grow and become more well known as people begin to recognize their powerful and well-crafted sound.

I asked Trapp what they are on the verge of, to which he replied, “being a ‘meme’– we want to be a part of the internet. But as much as we want to be a meme, we’re also doing everything we can to like like make life more physical and to make our brand really something that you can touch…”

It was a pleasure speaking with Coast Modern and I look forward to hearing the full-length album!

This single is an incredible banger that is sure to be a hit on the dance floor. It does not require any remixes to spice up the track, in fact PLS&TY has done that all on his own, making the track extremely riveting with its charismatic, high energy, song that is a battle cry of musical creation. The incantations are incredible, carrying the song throughout what the time frame will allow, and preparing you for the depths of life that march into the jungle and run for the great escape. The drums are haunting, like bones against the ground chiming to the sounds of a summer anthem. The synths then raise our hopes and spirits as the melody carries through a stream of our consciousness alongside the eerie chants of the song.

After the release of his hit single, “Good Vibes”, which landed a Universal Music licensing deal and re-release, and after having already been on tour for 4 months in the U.S., this artist decides that it is time to push his fans’ musical ears and challenge them to an abstract track such as this one, “Run Wild”.

Alternative R&B Artist Chris Buxton Drops Single “Swerve”

Swerve on me, but not this song

The Rock Hill, South Carolina native, Chris Buxton, drops his new single “Swerve” for all of us to jam to. The single is actually one of the hip-hopper’s best tracks, with a great start that catches your attention from the start using claps in a repeated pattern. His voice is strong and smooth all at once in this ever-flowing record that moves you this way and that way, as if to swerve us along with the disillusioned love that is the subject of this song.

The cover art of the track is also an eye-catching image that fits well with the song itself. Elements of martian-like tonalities sprinkled throughout the track embrace Buxton’s silky vocals and support the melancholia that the artist feels for falling for the tough, hard-to-get lover. Broken-hearted, but full of inspiration, comes this song, produced by the masterful Hiko Momoji.

The lyricist himself explains:

“Basically it’s a song that drew inspiration from wanting something you can’t have. I feel like as people we have all been in a situation where we liked someone and we’re willing to go through it all to have them. However, this song is about me looking back at the time and wishing that girl would have curved me or (Swerve on me) because she never truly liked me. I was willing to give my all and she was willing to take advantage of that. I fell in love with what we could have been and not who she was.”

The melody has a great chord progression that is both inviting and haunting– definitely head-nodding worthy and memorable.

With a series of busting singles, this artist is growing his fan base one release at a time. Hustling hard, he’s got the musical talent to capture a crowd’s ears with his unique, yet familiar sound. His last hit releases were revealed 3 months ago titled “Selena” ft. Croosh and Tessellated, which received 97.3 K streams on SoundCloud and 5 months ago called “Mary, Lucy, I“, which received over 102 K streams!

The 21 year old independent artist tries to meld his worlds and influences in Hip-Hop, R&B and Pop. He has already been noticed by artists such as Skizzy Mars and has been featured by notable publications like MTV – The Wrap Up, Revolt TV, DJ Booth, The Daily Loud and on EARMilk.

All in all, he intends to continue playing the music industry game as he produces more impressive tracks and is now working hand-in-hand with Skizzy Mars’ Penthouse Music collective.

With a stellar production of jazzy intonations and panning synth echoes, Elliot’s voice surrounds your space with his deep, melodic R&B croons. Thought you could escape his embrace? Think again, he pulls you, in fact tugs you into his orbit of seduction and erotica. The artist himself calls the song a “FUCKBOI-REPELLANT SONG OF THE SUMMER”.

Elliot is prepping up for what will become his sophomore EP later this year! Fans are extremely excited for Elliot’s next project which has already been hinted to be a incredibly steamy and provocative masterpiece.

Even in this single’s cover image, we feel that taste of daring, exotic smokiness … spiked with lust and beautiful disasters.

Earlier this year, Elliot graced us with the release of his track “On You” accompanied by a music video with incredibly choreography and all the 90’s R&B feels. His fame continues to grow as he has made some groundbreaking achievements this year, including his official SXSW showcase back in March of 2017, and soon to be his upcoming show at the Pride performances in D.C. & NYC this June 2017.

Now, time for an [EXCLUSIVE] interview with the rockstar bae himself:

full press image.jpg

Neelu Mohaghegh (NM): What was the inspiration behind “Orbit”?
Russell Elliot (RE) : Orbit is inspired by a fuckboi who didn’t know who he was trying. What else is new? The song is mostly me frustrated with myself for returning to the same toxic shit over and over again. It’s definitely an evolution from songs that placed the frustration or blame solely on other people.

NM: What is the process like creating your next EP?
RE: So far I’ve produced, engineered and written the whole record myself. Nobody has heard it but me! Not even my team. It feels like a delicious and exciting secret. Right now it’s all mine. The solitude has allowed me to take my time and create with less pressure. Soon I’ll need to let other people in on the creative process. That is scary, exciting, wonderful, and horrible all at the same time.

NM: What would be the color of your upcoming EP if you had to define it that way and why?
RE: Pitch Black. You get lost in it and can’t see what’s coming next.

NM: What should we expect next in terms of musical direction?
RE: The rhythms have an old-world, savage, relentless, visceral quality to them. You can definitely expect the record to be more percussion driven than anything else I’ve put out. It’s dark, but there’s definitely some beauty and soul in there. It wouldn’t be an RE record if I didn’t get my Boys II Men moment.

NM: What is your guilty pleasure right now?
RE: I’m rewatching “Queer As Folk” on Netflix and living for it. God, if you’re reading this, please send me Brian Kinney.

NM: Who would you want to collaborate with if you had to choose?
RE: This list is always a mile long, but the ones that come to mind are: H.E.R, Lizzo, Kehlani, Chance, Solange, RAY BLK, JoJo, Jidenna, Frank (duh), 6LACK, & Russ.

Well, that’s it folks!

Electro-R&B/Soul Soloist R. LUM. R. Announces Forthcoming Debut “AfterImage”

The Wizard of Electro-R&B/Soul, R.LUM.R, is announcing not only his forthcoming EP “AfterImage”, but is also prepping for his tour this summer!

R.LUM.R is a Florida-native, and unlike many artists today, he genuinely has a background in music that gives him a stronger understanding of musical creation. He is well-versed in old school R&B and jazz, growing up in a household that listened to and appreciated the stylings of Sade, George Benson, and more. With breathy yet silky vocals and impactful falsettos strung through intricate lines of synths and beats, we get what is R.LUM.R’s circus of beautiful sounds.

However, though this author of sound describes his music as “R&B/Singer-Songwriter/Soul/ Electronic”, he still does “not want to limit myself”.  The range of genres that this artist is able to tackle is extraordinary.  He’s a classically trained acoustic guitarist, was inspired by anime like Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist, and even studied Japanese as a second language at Florida State University. If this was not eclectic enough, his musical interests also spanned from listening to Pink Floyd, to Prince, to Debussy, to Massive Attack, and so much more.

NPR Music has pegged him as “a fast-rising, pop-friendly R&B singer whose falsetto is no joke,” and The New York Times chose him for “The Playlist,” and let’s not forget how this young man was the CoverBoy on Spotify’s “Alt R&B” playlist for 6 months!!  If that’s not enough praise as is, R.LUM.R’s hit single, “Frustrated,” has accumulated more than than 15 million Spotify streams and counting!

As part of Vevo’s DSCVR program, he will be one of many upcoming artists that will have the opportunity to create unique content and material at an early stage of his professional career in order to gain awareness and buzz from his fans.

BU Producer KEYON Releases Single “Morning” With Wyatt Ward and Sam Uzbay

This could be the next track to be on Soul-ection.

On the morn of his birthday, 21 year-old producer (KEYON), releases his latest record “Morning” in collaboration with vocalist Wyatt Ward and Sam Uzbay. Together, these three musketeers bring you a vibe that will make your day a little brighter with a bit of hip-hop and R&B shine.

In preparation for what is to be their project Digital Natives, the three BU students came together to create this vibey new track that gives you all the feels of a lethargic Sunday morning and gives you a sneak peek of what they will have in store for us on the EP that is expected to drop in late summer.

Screen Shot 2017-05-05 at 7.29.12 PM

“Morning” is different from a lot of productions we hear today that utilize a lot of synth and loud, thudding bass production. Instead, clicking sounds at the beginning ready you for the chillest vibe for your Sunday mornings. With a sharp beat and a bounce-worthy rhythm, the trio take you for a wild trip of bedroom imagination. Both enchanting and erotic, you hear the rawest elements of the track and what it takes to produce the single. Mid-way through the track breaks through the forceful, bold vocals of songstress Uzbay who decides to join the boys on their escapade of day dreams and seduction. Ward and Uzbay then circle through a harmonious medley of their voices layered over each other like sheets, as cyclical echoes and impressive guitar riffs, designed by KEYON, lay as the backdrop to their melodic conversations.

The song is practically a melange of R&B-hip-pop and electro-funk. “I never see you in the morning, I never see you anymore and it really kills me…” croons Ward, as Uzbay trills back “I got nothing left to share…” The piano and xylophone tones are sweet, making the whole song’s heavy meaning of broken and lost relationships seem as  innocent as child’s play.

Come on, these artists are basically asking you to vibe with them, so press play on the link above and get to it.

Sleeping Lion Suspends You With Dreamy New Track “Stop It”

When you’re between sleep and awake, this is the song of dreamy purgatory that will lull you away …

This is Sleeping Lion, if you haven’t heard of them yet, then you should keep them on your radar now, because they’re about to find your playlists and fill the airwaves with their electro-soul vibe sounds.

The Boston-born band consists of Nate Flaks and Noah Longworth McGuire who sing and produce the music together in perfect bolstering harmony. Honestly, it is incredible to find the artistry and intricate tonality held behind each note in their music. The two proudly release their latest single “Stop It”, as a hypnotic and trance-like track.

This indie-pop, mood-music duo, Sleeping Lion, divulge this stunning lullaby to enchant you into various states of consciousness. You can listen to the full track above!

This is a song of blissful contradictions: the song that alleviates the hurt, the voice that leads you into the dark, a melody that finds the fullest in the empty, and a composition that creates the blurs from the experiences of fading. It’s a record of joy and melancholia.

“Stop It” assuages the left behind scars on shattered hearts and emits a kind of silver lining. Picture yourself walking amidst the bright lights in a big city as your interlude and outro. This is the song of the lion taking a hiatus from the hunt, allowing sweet electronic vibes to caress ears with warped whispers and eerie echoes of the cement jungle.

The song also features the silky, ghost-like vocals of a songstress, who croons her way through the synths and break-down beats. As the bass line hums a soft-spoken tune, the vocalists & producers join forces to allay the listeners with breathy words and whimsical vibrations.

The boys have already reached success with this new track, recognized by publications such as BeautifulBuzzz, TrueMusicNetwork, ThisSongIsSick, Sound of Boston, Going Solo, and more, as well as finding their way to the notable Spotify-curated playlist “Chill Vibes” and featured by channels like Majestic Casual.
